Vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter Sarah McLeod began her musical journey in her hometown Eagle River, Alaska. Starting on her 1/16 size violin at age 4, she quickly fell in love with baroque music, telling her mother that it “made her heart feel sad”. Sarah is a proud alumna of the Central Washington University music program, where she earned B.M degrees in both Instrumental & Choral Music Education and Trumpet Performance. As a former high school music educator and classical performer, Sarah approaches her arranging and transcription work with a wide perspective and a deep understanding of musicians’ needs. Following her M.M. in Contemporary Performance from Berklee College of Music in Spain, she began tinkering with combining her love of choral and contemporary styles through her own compositions. She is currently working on recording her collection of contemporary folk songs, inspired by her experiences exploring the landscapes and stories of Alaska and the UK. She lives in Scotland and loves adventuring outdoors, baking carrot cakes, and playing your transcription projects for her two cats, Fergus and Bruce.
